Mark the anniversary of the Baltic Way and travel across the Baltic countries
CityBee, a car-sharing service provider, invites you to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Baltic Way by traveling to Lithuania and Estonia at no additional cost. In August, there will be no charge for leaving a CityBee vehicle in another country.
When was the last time you visited Lithuania or Estonia as a tourist? Summer is a suitable time for short and long travels, and in its last month – August – you can still add to the list of summer trips adventures with an interesting trip. This would be a great way to mark 35th anniversary of the Baltic Way, which stretched across all three Baltic countries for about 650 kilometers in length.
Passenger car – the most suitable form of transport for tourism in the Baltics
The data1 of the study commissioned by the Tourism Department of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency and implemented by the research center SKDS revealed that the car is the most popular and suitable mode of transportation when traveling within the Baltic States. Estonians and Lithuanians most often come to Latvia by car or minibus (86% from Lithuania and 88% from Estonia).
Traveling by two is the most common way of traveling in the Baltic countries: 55% of Latvian, 63% of Lithuanian and 72% of Estonian residents travel as a couple with a partner, spouse, or child. Traveling alone is relatively rare (4% in Latvia, 2% in Lithuania, and 5% in Estonia). The main purposes of travel often include leisure, cultural events, and visiting family and friends.
The Baltic Way is still a source of inspiration
Although the Baltic countries are close to each other geographically, their historical and cultural differences create a pleasant diversity that can be explored in short and convenient trips.
CityBee Latvija country manager Krištofs Hegedjušs: “Although the Baltic Road event happened 35 years ago, this event evokes memories, patriotic emotions and inspires even now. We invite you to appreciate, learn and see everything that is available in our region.”
Starting a trip with a CityBee vehicle in one country, then ending it and leaving the car in another would normally cost an additional 79 euros, but between from August 1st and 31st it will be free.
Carsharing vehicles are used for travel more and more
The use of shared vehicles is becoming more and more popular and Latvian drivers drove a total of 17 million kilometers last year with CityBee vehicles. It is a convenient opportunity to drive without worries not only on the streets and highways of Latvia, but also to the nearest neighbouring countries.
According to statistics collected by CityBee, customers in Latvia choose Lithuania (80% of trips) over Estonia (20%) as their preferred destination.
Among Latvians, travelling in the Baltic States is most popular during the summer. In July trips were made with CityBee vehicles between the Baltic countries is twice as many as, for example, in January.
